Vasquez Rocks Natural Area
I spent two hours this afternoon (3/12/09) photographing rock formations at the Vasquez Rocks Natural Area & Nature Center in Santa Clarita, CA. This place is breath taken and I’m really sorry I only had 2 hours. You can literally spent the whole day there.
Let me tell you a bit about the park. The park is located at 10700 W. Escondido Canyon Road, Agua Dulce, CA 91350 and you call 661-268-0840. This 905-acre park is a popular hiking, picnicking and equestrian area. The park is located in the high desert near Agua Dulce Springs and features unusual rock formations, Tataviam Indian sites, and a seasonal stream.
The principal plant communities are Juniper woodland, chaparral, and riparian.
The Park is open at different times in different seasons: 8-6 (Mar-May); 8-7 (June – Oct); 8-5 (Nov – Feb)
There are plenty things to do in this park, such as:
Although the park as a strict rule of “NO DRINKING WATER ON PERMISES”, I had to take out a bottle of water from my bag and drink, with all the walking and hiking, there is NO WAY, I could have survived those two hours without water. Here are some of the images of this awesome outing. If you want to see the whole set, visit my flickr ~ Enjoy!
