Charter Flight

I just had my first experience flying in a charter plane from Detroit, MI to Sacramento, CA with a fuel stop in Kansas.

This was a business trip and although not a photography trip, I always travel with my best friend (Canon EOS 30D) accompanied by the trusty Canon 24-70 f/2.8L. I also took my Canon 580 Speed light, but didn’t use it at all.

I hope you like the following shots from earlier this morning (6/27/09).

I really like the last one with the aircraft wing, with the rising morning sun. You can clearly see the inversion layer of the lower-level atmosphere trapping in the hot temps and haziness, with the crisp blue skies aloft. Great picture!

My favorites are the last two. There is just something about black and white pictures that gets to me and on the last one the sunrise makes it more beautiful. This last one also reminds me of when dad use to have photography as his hobby. He took similar pictures from planes.

I love that last shot. Reminds me of the days when I was a “frequent flier”. Would love to cross the Pacific in a private jet!
