#attached

After viewing some of the images that one of my favorite photographers of today, I have been inspired to follow his foot steps with this project and photograph those moments where we find ourselves #attached to our gadgets.

shot_1308584712609 There are times where we get so #attached to our gadgets that moments passes us by and we tend to disconnect from the real world… Mind you, I do have those moments just like you and I’m not saying it’s wrong, I’m just saying that there are times where we should look around and enjoy what life and it’s moments as screwy, exciting, beautiful, or as strange as they might be.

shot_1308584890035

You’ll be surprise of the wonderful things you will see if ONLY you get detached for just a moment or two.

A new web gallery of this project will be hosted on my site soon and prints will be for sale as well. I have not put an end date to this project, but eventually, I’ll be putting out a photo book with all or at least a big majority of the photographs.

~ Enjoy

Tradewinds – Tri-Athlon

Swimmers

By now, I’m sure you all know that I’m a cyclist, not a swimmer and not a runner, but this past weekend, some of my good friends and team members were participating in their first Tri-Athlon and some were participating in their 3rd, 4th, 5th… You get the idea!!!!

Since I’m not a runner or swimmer, I thought it would be cool to come to cheer for them and also photograph, so I did. I showed up at the event pretty much at the same time they were getting there, some of them knew I was going, some of them didn’t, so I think it was a good surprised for them to see me there cheering and photographing them.

I certainly enjoyed photographing this event as I could feel the adrenaline as they were about to start and transition for the next course.

Below are just some of the pictures of this event – These are NOT FineArt and maybe not be Sports Illustrated material, but this post is NOT about the actual photograph, but the actual accomplishments that my friends made. I know for one that I wouldn’t do what they did. Not because I can’t run or swim, but because I won’t just DO them.

BTW – Special congratulations to Naomi – She got 1st place in the Athena category… Why is this so special? Because it was her first time participating and she totally ROCKED it!

#1 Naomi Segall

Anyway, I hope you enjoy the photographs as much as I enjoyed taking them.

What does it really mean…

I have written this post… Oh, about a thousand times in my head. I have not been ready to share it with you until now.

You might ask what does ‘it’ really mean to me. I say… Photography… So what does photography mean to me – well it’s about how I live life and view life.

Some might consider me a newbie, some may not like my work and some may love my work. Honestly it doesn’t matter what others might think. I care about what my clients and those that appreciate my work think.

Although I’ve always been around photography, I had not realized what photography was until I picked up a camera and started looking through the view finder. I’m always photographing, whether I have a camera or not. It’s a way of expressing, showing, pouring everything that I have inside and sharing ‘it’ to the world. I’m not too much of a wordsmith, so I express anything and everything through my images.

Photography to me is NOT about the beautiful and shiny gear or by what the latest version of Adobe Photoshop is… In fact, I don’t own the latest equipment and the latest version of Adobe Photoshop or Lightroom. Gear and software helps the photograph, but it doesn’t MAKE the photograph.

I don’t photograph weddings… Why? 1st of, I don’t believe in Big weddings, I personally think it’s just a waste of money… and because I don’t believe in these out of this world weddings, I don’t want to be part of them, so I don’t photograph weddings.. THERE, I SAID IT!

I love portraits. Portraits of a person, an animal or even a place. It gives me a sense of completion, a way of interacting, feeling the feel of the intimacy of a portrait – this makes me whole.

Rosana Greco

If I could spend the rest of my life making portraits, it would just be the best I had done in my life.

Jeannie Garcia

I do believe this is the first time I have poured my all out in public, but I believe it needed to be done, not only for me, but because of you. You, that are looking at my work, enjoying and admiring my imagery .

20100822_0085

We all need to do this soul searching from time to time… ‘It’ is what makes us grow as  humans and us the creative types.

Anyway, I have rambled enough about soul searching, emotions, feelings, etc… So now the question is…. What does photography mean to you?

Top 10 for 2010

As the year approaches the end, we all like to take sometime and go through our images. I enjoy looking through my year’s images and going through thousands of images to select my top 10 images.

I believe I have blogged for every single image in this selection, but each one of them have a provoking thought or emotion behind it.

52 Mobile Photographs

We’ve all seen and even participated in those #365 projects. We’ve seen many succeed and many failed… Not because of bad imagery, composition, light, rules… But because of time constraint. It is really time consuming to go out everyday, take an image (good image), edit and post… Therefore,  I’m starting a different kind of project, just because I say it’s different :)

Not Perfection

I will be sharing 1 picture per week. Each photograph will be taken, edited and blogged with my new iTouch 4th Gen that I just got for Christmas. I’m extremely excited about starting this project out. I would love to do a #365, but I think it has been done, over and over again, besides, I have a couple of other projects that I’m starting out as well and it wouldn’t be fair to you to start something and not complete it.

You will still see more photographs from me throughout, but for this particular project, you will only see 52 photographs for 2011.

I hope you  enjoy the photographs for this project, so be sure to follow the blog or simple my twitter tag of #52mobiletography

Rosana Greco

Back in October, I held a giveaway for a FREE photo session. Well, our shoot was scheduled for 12/11 and it was at The Mutiny Hotel in Coconut Grove. This location was just amazing!

I met Rosana personally for the first time at the shoot, she had 2 friends with her and let me tell you,  I had an absolute great time photographing Rosana and hanging out with Nicole and Lourdes. Rosana is funny, smart, down to earth and oh! that’s right… Beautiful!

These are just two of the images from the shoot. I hope you like them.

Rosa GrecoRosana, I hope you enjoyed your shoot as much as I enjoyed photographing and hanging out with you girls.

Lonesome – Postcard

Looking out my hotel window, there is evidently some construction going on, but I honestly wouldn’t know what they are trying to make. It looks like they want to make a bridge of some sort, but this lonesome beam is all by himself far from the rest of the beams. I thought it would make a good photograph by itself.
