FINDING GREAT PHOTOGRAPHS IN YOUR OWN BACKYARD
CLOSE TO HOME was written by Stuart Sipahigil an amateur photographer in the traditional sense of the word—that is, he does it for the love of the craft. Stuart also teaches workshops to help other amateur photographers find great photographs close to home.
Taking great photographs does not require traveling to an exotic place. By digging a little deeper and seeing things around you more clearly you can reinvigorate your photography and find new images in familiar territory.
Through practical insights and creative exercises you’ll discover that the grass is not always greener on the other side.
“Your subject is not your photograph.” – Stuart Sipahigil
Your city, your neighborhood, and even your backyard are all full of opportunities for great photographs. The goal of this ebook is to help you see those opportunities and the photographs that lie within them. Close to Home is 37 spreads of photographs, insights, and exercises that will inspire as you develop your own craft.
“Great photographs are about life , and life happens everywhere.” – Stuart Sipahigil

“To me, photography is an art of observation. It’s about finding
something interesting in an ordinary place… I’ve found it has
little to do with the things you see and everything to do with
the way you see them.” – Elliot Erwitt

I am totally blown away by the content of this eBook. The images, the process, the place are just wonderful. I personally have had Iceland in my “Places to Visit” list for a while now. I can’t wait to accomplish that trip.
ICELAND, A Monograph – The Print & The Process is the latest eBook by David duChemin. The Print & The Process series is the perfect format to show David’s photographic vision and creative process behind his recent trip to one of the world’s most stunning places. Moved by the incredible landscapes, the vastness of the open spaces, and the extreme weather, David created photographs that first and foremost inspired him.
ICELAND, A Monograph, is a showcase of exceptional photographs and it holds nothing back with respect to how the images were created. This eBook is the first look at 39 of the images David created in Iceland. The curtain is pulled back on technique – like how he used three different ND filters to work through an exposure problem, as well as the more internal processes related to creation – like finding inspiration and working through the frustrations of finding one’s vision. The process and thinking behind those photographs are explained from a technical angle and the discussion of post-processing includes two free downloadable Adobe Lightroom Presets. For you travelers, David also briefly discusses logistics involved in the travel and supporting the digital workflow while tenting his way through Iceland.
ICELAND, A Monograph – The Print & The Process is larger than usual – a full 65 spreads of photographs and insights that will inspire as you develop your own craft. This is easily one of the books about which we are the proudest! The downloadable PDF is just $5USD.

The folks at Craft&Vision are at it again, it seems that every time I get an email from them, another eBook has been released.
I mean honestly don’t think they sleep! I mean, seriously with the quality of their eBooks and the content of it… Who can really sleep without quality been jeopardized .
Andrew S. Gibson did a wonderful job explaining, detailing his post-processing and his whole thinking behind these 9 photographs presented here.
The Magic of Black & White – Part III, Nine Photos, takes us through nine gorgeous black and white images with the goal of teaching more advanced techniques to give our images more subtlety and power. Clearly taught in Photoshop, and 5 of the lessons in Photoshop Elements, Andrew takes us through Toning, Split Toningk, Exposure Blending, Textures, and the creation of Diptyches and Triptyches, all without losing sight of the idea that our work should be driven by intent with the goal of creating photographs that honour the Artist’s need for expression and the Geek’s need for excellence of craft. And all that without getting mired down – the examples and the illustrations Andrew provides compliment his clear teaching style and make this book a pleasure to read.

Mr. David DuChemin is at it again and this time, he has hit it out of the park. This eBook has everything any photographer will ever need to know about making a personal project work. We all struggle at our craft when trying to do a personal project and by putting yourself out there like he has, it makes it that much easier.
VENICE, A Monograph is the first in The Print & Process series, a series created to give the photograph a place to stand on its own within a small body of work (The Print) followed by a discussion of the creation of those images (The Process). It’s a more intimate look into the process of creation and another attempt by our Craft & Vision team to create books that pair inspiration with solid photographic teaching.
VENICE, A Monograph is a collection of over 30 photographs created along themes of loneliness and solitude over a 5-day period in Venice in May 2010, and followed by a discussion of the Why and the How behind the images. 47pages long, and in PDF format, this first installment of The Print & The Process series is laid out in landscape format to make viewing equally good on the iPad as well as desktop and laptop computers.
Special Offer:
For the first three days only, if you use the promotional code VENICE4 when you checkout, you can have VENICE, A Monograph for only $4 OR use the code VENICE20 to get 20% off when you buy 5 or more books from the Craft & Vision collection. I received an email from Craft&Vision with the announcement of their revised copy of Magic of B&W by David DuChemin. I immediately got excited about reading it as I purchased the 1st book and I was totally inspired by it.
Between a podcast episode by another photographer and this eBook, I am totally inspired to make some photographs today.
Now, onto the eBook. This publication shows the love and passion that David DuChemin has for photography and Black & Whites.
I totally agree with David when he says that there are million ways to convert your photographs into Black & Whites, but his methods are so straight forward that why try any different way. I will be trying his conversion methods in my workflow and see how they apply to me. I like David, don’t really use any store bought Photoshop Actions as I tend to believe it makes your photographs look like somebody else’s.
In this eBook, David talks about the Craft of Black and White as well as the following topics:
If you haven’t purchased any of his eBooks, maybe you should start now. See some of the sample pages included in this book
Go and buy it.. NOW! It’s just $5.00 USD.. Yes, just 5 dollars… You can’t beat that!
But wait… The awesome people at Craft&Vision have a special for you… For the first few days only, if buyers use the promotional code MAGIC4 when they checkout, they can have the latest ebook for only $4 OR they can use the code MAGIC20 to get 20% off when they buy 5 or more books from the Craft & Vision collection. These codes expire at 11:59pm PST June 1, 2010.
