Napes Zoo currently has a Photo Contest running. Anybody can submit entries for it as it has different categories.
Category A: 2009 Image
- Youth (12 and under)
- Amateur
- Advanced (experienced and/or professional)
Category B: Historic Image (taken between 1919 and 2008)
- Photograph by Entrant (or Descendant)
Anyway, after reading the full contest rules (here) and after many hours deciding if I should enter or not, I decided to submit three images in the Advanced category.
Below are my 3 images and I hope you like them. Also, if you scroll below my 3 images, you’ll find 3 extra images, there were taken by my 12 year old daughter Daniella with my DSLR.

I was just editing some of the images from my Marco Island trip and I just came across the following photograph and I had to tell you about it.
I wanted to make some night moonlight photographs, my 12 year old daughter wanted to come along.
We spent closed to 3 hours at around 11pm around the condominium where we were staying. We had a lot of fun taking photographs, but even better, we had fun spending time together.
As you know, doing night photography, takes a lot of time, specially when trying to do some long exposures.
Walking by the docks, we both looked up and saw the moon between two palm branches and we both got rather excited about what we just saw.
So, I setup the tripod, camera settings were as follows:
ISO: 100
Aperture: f/11
Shutter: 30 seconds

As you can see from the image, the wind was kicking and because of it, the photograph is not in focus at all, but when the image was finally displayed on my LCD, I literally gasped… We both were very happy with it and continue taking other shot, but out of all shots (this setting), this is my favorite. It is not a sharp image, but I really like the moody, creepy feel to it.
I hope you enjoy this photograph as much as I enjoyed it when I saw it

I was driving back from Naples to Miami when I saw these 4 huts (sorta), but it caught my attention that 3 of them were green and 1 red.
I hope you like it.
