My Photographic Life… Photobook #1

A few weeks ago, I received a discount code to print a 8×8 from AdoramPix.com and I saw it as an opportunity to print, display my images besides the web. I’ve been uploading images to my Online Portfolio, flickr, Blog, and all kinds of places, but this time I asked myself… How would my images look printed?

I guess this is a question that all photographers have. Don’t get me wrong, I do make some prints, but most of the prints that I have hanging on my walls are from my girls. This time, I wanted to print “my work”, the work that I produce, when I travel, wake up at the crack of dawn, walks, and even drive a few hours JUST to get 5 minutes when the sun is going down.

This photobook has images from January 18th, 2008 thru February 14th, 2009. I hope you like the quick video (not professionally produced). and the images below are all the images included in the Photobook in the same order. If you do like the work and would like to purchase a book for your enjoyment, please contact me.

Griffith Park

20090313_0005I had planned to be at up and out of the hotel by 7am, but because this week really took a toll on me, I woke at 7, anyways, I continued with what I had planned and that was to go to Griffith Park and some flower, plant photography. When I arrived at the park, it was 9:30 in the morning and I had to be at the airport by 11:30, not knowing the unknown, this park it was huge to cover and I ended up just driving around and taking the beautiful scenery in. One thing that I HAD to see was the Hollywood sign, just because I’ve seen it a million times on TV and the fact that my 11 year old wanted to me to take a picture for her. I HAD to make every effort to find where the observatory was and just drive there.

When I arrived at the Observatory, it was 10:00am and when I saw that I had to climb quiet a bit to get to the top, I decided to find a vantage view point and was able to take a few images. I also find a few flowers and interesting trees around the area and decided NOT to continue climbing, but I MUST visit next time I’m in California.

Since I only took some images, I’m including the ones I choose to correct.

As always your comments are appreciated and encouraged.

~ Enjoy

Vasquez Rocks Natural Area

Vasquez Rocks Natural Area, Santa Clarita, CA<br />
</span></span></span></span></span>I spent two hours this afternoon (3/12/09) photographing rock formations at the Vasquez Rocks Natural Area & Nature Center in Santa Clarita, CA. This place is breath taken and I’m really sorry I only had 2 hours. You can literally spent the whole day there.

Let me tell you a bit about the park. The park is located at 10700 W. Escondido Canyon Road, Agua Dulce, CA 91350 and you call 661-268-0840. This 905-acre park is a popular hiking, picnicking and equestrian area. The park is located in the high desert near Agua Dulce Springs and features unusual rock formations, Tataviam Indian sites, and a seasonal stream.

The principal plant communities are Juniper woodland, chaparral, and riparian.

The Park is open at different times in different seasons: 8-6 (Mar-May); 8-7 (June – Oct); 8-5 (Nov – Feb)

There are plenty things to do in this park, such as:

  • Birding
  • Campfire Nature Trails
  • Equestrian Programs
  • Hiking
  • Jr. Ranger Program
  • Motion Picture and Still Photography
  • Nature Study
  • Ranger-led Hikes
  • School Tours (Reservation Required)
  • Seasonal Special Events
  • Volunteer Opportunities
  • Youth Group Camping

Although the park as a strict rule of “NO DRINKING WATER ON PERMISES”, I had to take out a bottle of water from my bag and drink, with all the walking and hiking, there is NO WAY, I could have survived those two hours without water.

Here are some of the images of this awesome outing. If you want to see the whole set, visit my flickr

~ Enjoy!

West Coast

PierPanorama

I had the opportunity to travel to the West Coast for my day job and I took some time to drive to Malibu Beach, because I heard so many wonderful things. I spent about 3 hours in Malibu and I can say that was blown away about the beautiful sky, although Walter didn’t think it was clear enough. For my first time here, I thought it was just gorgeous.

“Malibu is an incorporated city in western Los Angeles County, California, United States. As of the 2000 census, the city population is 12,575.

The city of Malibu is a 21-mile (34 km)[5] (33.5 km) strip of Pacific coastline; a beachfront community famous for its warm, sandy beaches, and for being the home of countless movie stars and others associated with the Southern California entertainment industries. Most Malibu residents live within a few hundred yards of Pacific Coast Highway (State Route 1), which traverses the city, with some residents living up to a mile away from the beach up narrow canyons; the city is also bounded (more or less) by Topanga Canyon to the east, the Santa Monica Mountains to the north, the Pacific Ocean to the south, and Ventura County to the west. Its beaches include Surfrider Beach, Zuma Beach, Malibu State Beach and Topanga State Beach; its local parks include Malibu Bluffs Park[6] (formerly Malibu Bluffs State Park) and the planned Legacy Park,[7] with neighboring parks Malibu Creek State Park, Leo Carillo State Beach and Park,[8] Point Mugu State Park,[9] and the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area, and neighboring state beach Robert H. Meyer Memorial State Beach,[10] that was once part of Old Malibu (before Malibu became a city), and better known as pristine beaches, El Pescador, La Piedra and El Matador.”

Anyway, these are just a few of the shots from Monday 3/9/09. You can see my uploads in Facebook and/or Flickr.

I hope you enjoy it!
